EP 6: Interview with Comedian, Dani Cabs (aka Poncho Orange)
In this episode, I chat with Dani Cabs who is a Gold Coast based comedian and performer. I have seen Dani play Poncho at Yonder festival a few years ago. In this episode we talk about who Dani Cabs is, how clowning and play has formed his art practice as a comedian and actor, what types of self-care is great for him, why play is so important throughout life and that mostly were just out of practice, and so much more! About Dani Cabs
Dani Cabs is a multi-dimensional fun facilitator who uses photo/video, dance, site activation and clowning to explore and strengthen relationships within community. He holds a Bachelor of Photographic Art with First Class Honours from QCA and has trained with La Boite Theatre, award-winning physical comedian Dr. Brown (Phillip Burgers), Anna Yen and Danielle Cresp.
Over 2021 to 2022, Dani was one of the inaugural ArtKeeper residents at HOTA on the Gold Coast, which provided funding and mentorship from Wesley Enoch to create a one-man solo show. As a result he created Poncho: Keep it Up, which he is currently touring nationally.
Previous comedy works include Who is Dani Cabs? (Best Emerging Artist Nominee Adelaide Fringe 2015), Poncho Orange and Weekend at Barnie’s (Collaboration with Barnie Duncan, Winner Anywhere Theatre Award 2017).
